He just wanted to rape her. It was only later, because she wouldn't stop screaming, that he decided to kill her. So he cut her throat. As she lay dying, he repeatedly stabbed and slashed her body with a foot-long hunting knife.
Ann Bryan bled to death in the bedroom of her small, upscale retirement-home apartment in the early morning hours of March 21, 1994. She was 82.

Her murder baffled investigators and remained a mystery for 10 years.
She was his first kill, so he says, the first of at least eight for a 31-year-old budding psychopath named Sean Vincent Gillis.
