Murders of David and Carol Keeffe: Preliminary Investigation
Who Did It?
On December 22, 2006, David's father, Paul Keeffe, a retired Arlington, Mass., police officer, spoke briefly with Crime Library about his son.
"We all loved him," Paul said. "He was a good ,honest man. He always gave everyone a fair shake. I can't understand it."
When asked who he thought might have murdered his son, Paul said he believed it was probably a former client.
"As a retired cop, I understand how it could have happened. I remember how mad I used to get when we would work so hard to put a crook behind bars and then some lawyer would get him off. I just hope they get who did it."
While it is possible the David's murder could be related to his law practice, it is also possible the perpetrator could be a stranger or a family member.
In an article in The Daily & Sunday Review, W. Scott Thornsley, Ph.D., associate professor of criminal justice at Mansfield University, briefly commented on the murders, saying: "the more overkill the murder is, the more personal the crime has become for the killer."
