Following his arrest, Grant was transported to Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. According to a hospital spokesperson, Grant is being treated for hypothermia and possible frostbite. As of Sunday evening, his condition was listed as stable. Authorities say they do not know why Grant had fled to Bliss Township, an area where he is not known to have any history.
On Sunday afternoon, Griem told the Associated Press that he was withdrawing his representation of Grant. "If I can't give a client all of my blood, sweat and tears, it's time for that client to find a new attorney and time for me to move on down the road," Griem said.
