"Maternal Instinct"

Moseley and Hironaga pleaded guilty to federal charges in connection with the murder of Pati Margello and agreed to testify against Ricardo Murillo and Joseph Balignasa. Murillo was convicted of federal murder-for-hire charges and sentenced to two life terms. Balignasa was convicted in state court and sentenced to 10 to 25 years in prison.

In exchange for their testimony, secret agent wannabe Diana Hironaga received a prison sentence of 15 1/2 years and super-spy Christopher Moseley got 16 1/2 years.

"People are willing to do anything for the rich, including, in some cases, die for them, and so for somebody to go to jail for the rich is not that big a hit," said Richard Conniff, author of The Natural History of the Rich. "It's kind of what subordinates do."

In March 2005, Christopher Moseley died in prison.
