The Murder of Radio Legend Steven B. Williams

One thing Williams had in his favor was a network of several good friends.

He and Rossi would text or email each other daily, and, when contact ceased, Rossi became concerned. He left Williams five or six voicemails but never got a response. When another friend mentioned that Williams was unreachable, Rossi called Nolan.

She had been emailing Williams as well, to no avail.

On May 19, 2006, Nolan called Morrow. She had not seen Williams in almost a month, and his trip around the world was supposedly going to start in June.

"And he said, 'Oh, it's really funny, he's vanished off the boat,'" Nolan recalled in court. "And I said, 'Funny, what do you mean? Where did he go?' And he said, 'He went to Hawaii.' And I said, 'No, Harvey, he couldn't go to Hawaii because, when I was just with him a couple weeks ago for lunch, he didn't want to go back to Hawaii again because his friend had just passed away, and it just kind of brought back some bad memories. So I don't think he went there.'

"He said, 'No, that's where he went. He should be back in maybe a couple weeks, and then we're going to hopefully — you will get to — you will get to see him before we set sail,'" Nolan testified.

According to court records, Morrow told another of Williams' friends that the disc jockey took a trip to Mexico.

Rossi filed a missing persons report with the Los Angeles Police Department and began calling hospitals and the Coroner's Office.
