The couple's children were taken away from him by Los Angeles County's Child and Family Services while Detective Mark Lillienfeld investigated Irving's involvement. He was cleared and the children were returned. Irving received counseling to cope with the tragedy. He credits God, his family and parents with getting him through the tragedy.

The killer's frenzied attack on the sleeping Maria turned even veteran detective Mark Lillienfield's stomach. Lillienfeld asks for the public's help in finding the killer — believed to be the same person who stalked her.
