Hollywood Haunted by Sticky-Fingered Ghosts

For about a year and a half, it seemed like you were nobody in Hollywood unless your mansion had been robbed. Paris Hilton's house seemed to have a revolving door. Her 7,493-square-foot, five-bedroom home in Sherman Oaks eventually got hit five times. Each time it brought out big headlines in the gossip rags and blogs: TMZ and DListed ran splashy headlines befitting a major news event.

In December 2008, while Paris was partying at Bar Deluxe, a club in Hollywood, a man in a hooded sweatshirt and gloves was caught on security cameras walking calmly through the heiress's house pilfering whatever caught his eye. The losses to Hilton came were estimated at about $2 million in jewelry and other property.

Though it took her nearly two months to figure out that she had been robbed, she later told E! News that the unknown thief had taken "jewelry, watches, every ring I own," Hilton said. "All my necklaces, jewelry that my grandmothers gave me that I'll never be able to replace."

The ease with which the criminal or criminals moved throughout her home alarmed Hilton, who was sure it was an inside job. She told E! News, "Whoever did this definitely has been there before. We have some suspects that I'm thinking of."

Soon after, many of her fellow celebrities would also be victimized, including Orlando Bloom, Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Tisdale, Rachel Bilson, Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox, and Audrina Patridge, reality star of The Hills. Altogether, the burglars estimated take was $3 millionabout $500,000 from Orlando Bloom, the next-biggest victim.
