According to Bjjspokane.com, Jerid recently earned the title of UCF (Ultimate Cage Fighting) Light Heavyweight Champion. An October 26 post to the website reads:

"Jerid took the Champ down and finished with strikes from mount in round 1 to take the title in impressive fashion."

A fight schedule posted at Northwestfighting.com shows Jerid was supposed to defend his title against fellow UCF fighter Leo Bercier on December 1, at the East Central Community Center.

According to friends of Jerid he attended Washington State University during the 2005-06 school year but was expelled mid-term. An August 8, 2006 news article at Seattletimes.nwsource.com states that a judge dismissed felony burglary charges against Jerid and another student in May 2006, ruling that police conducted an improper search of the students' dorm. Prosecutors appealed the decision and oral arguments before Whitman County Superior Court began on November 15.

Preliminary autopsy results show Jerid's death was caused by strangulation, as a result of being dragged by the pickup truck. Toxicology tests are still pending.

On Monday, Wendell Sinn Jr. made his first court appearance before Pend Oreille County District Judge Philip J. Van de Veer. During the proceedings, Van de Veer ruled there was probable cause to hold Sinn for investigation of second-degree murder or first-degree manslaughter. Sinn was released from jail later that day after posting ten percent of his $100.000 bail. He was also required to surrender all of his firearms.

"This man was operating in defense of himself and others," Sinn's attorney, John Nollette told the Spokane Spokesman-Review after the hearing, declining to elaborate further.
