Speaking about the attack with Thesun.co.uk, a fellow prisoner gave the Web site details on the attack, which allegedly took place while the prisoners were on a recreation break.
"The guy who done him over just pushed the door open and really laid into him," the unidentified inmate said. "[Bermingham] rattled his (Tobin's) head off the sink and the toilet. Tobin had a really badly cut head and one side of his face was all swollen."
In speaking with the same Web site, another prison source said that despite his injuries, Tobin remained conscious after the beating.
"His face was black and blue and he had blood dripping off him. The hospital was heaving with police when he turned up — they were taking no chances. He was taken to a general high dependency ward and given facial X-rays when he arrived. He also had a CAT scan to check for any more serious damage."

The following day Essex Police wrapped up their search of the home and property in Margate where the two bodies were found.
"The task now is to assess the evidence and build a case against the person, or people, responsible," Assistant Chief Constable Peter Lowton told News.bbc.co.uk. "We are very aware that our activity in Irvine Drive has had a big impact on the local community and particularly the family who have moved out of the house so willingly to enable us to progress our investigation, as well as those families in the neighboring homes. I wish to reiterate our gratitude for their cooperation, support and patience throughout."
