When police confronted Michael Anderson with the growing mountain of evidence they had against him, he suddenly changed his story.
"The defendant then admitted that he was present when Katherine Ann Olson was killed, but that another person had killed her. The defendant stated that he has a friend who thought it would be funny," details the criminal complaint.

During a press conference yesterday morning, a police spokesperson discounted Anderson's version of the events and stated that Anderson was the only person involved in Katherine's murder. It was also revealed that neighbors had spotted Katherine Olson's gold Hyundai Elantra parked in front of Michael Anderson's house for over two hours on Thursday.
Michael Anderson's downfall began on Friday, when Savage police received a phone call notifying them that a handbag had been found in a garbage can at Pacer Park on 126th Street. Items found inside the purse identified the owner as Katherine Ann Olson, a resident of nearby Minneapolis. Police left a voicemail message on Katherine Olson's home phone regarding the discovery, and later that day, Katherine's roommate returned the call, informing police that she had not seen her friend since she left to answer an Internet ad Thursday morning.
