Police also recovered a .357 Magnum and a spent shell casing in Anderson's room. During Katherine's autopsy, conducted by the Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office in Hastings, police say a bullet was found in her stomach.
"An examination of Katherine Olson's body showed that she had been shot in the back by a firearm that penetrated the L3 vertebra, abdominal aorta, pancreas, duodenum, stomach, and rectus abdominus muscle," the complaintreads. "The projectile, a semi-copper jacketed gray metal round, was retrieved from the subcutaneous tissue of the abdomen."
Ballistic tests on the bullet recovered from Katherine's body are pending. According to the medical examiner, a preliminary exam of Katherine's body revealed no indication of sexual assault; however, additional tests were ordered, the results of which are not yet available.
