In her own interview with The Des Moines Register, Peggy Troutman, who owns the Bonaparte Mercantile, said Shawn was a friend of her son and he often stopped by her store to chat. "I've never seen him mad," she said. "He's always in a good mood when I've seen him." She said he had many girlfriends and that it was unusual to see him with the same girl twice. "He was quite the ladies' man," she said.
Peggy Troutman's comments about Shawn's promiscuity are not far fetched. He had two children with two different mothers and my own research has revealed that he did not put a lot of effort into keeping his relationships. For example, here are some blog postings from one of his ex girlfriends, who will remain anonymous:

Current mood: curious
"I am so FRUSTRATED!!! I am so sad. I am so happy. I am so CONFUSED!!! Things haven't been going well with Shawn at ALL lately, and I have been DEVASTATED. We broke up and I thought I was going to die. We got back together, and I was so happy and now things are not well again and the sad thing is, I dunno [sic] if I care!! EEEK :( I am just sick of doing 'this' with him. He has been avoiding me, and won't answer any of my calls. OK, I am to the point that if this is how it is going to be, I just want him to tell me right now so I can start moving on. I am so over all this crap. I love him, but why?? What the f—k is there to love??"
Another entry was a bit more telling and perhaps indicative of future events:

Current mood: anxious
"I am very happy for him, for us, and I hope now he can stop being so depressed and be a lil [sic] nicer to me. Not that he is bad he has just been a lil [sic] down in the dumps, and has been TAKING IT OUT ON ME!! I'm ready to stop FIGHTING."
