LOS ANGELES, CA (Crime Library) — Self-professed pedophile Jack McClellan was arrested twice in one day on the campus of UCLA after violating a restraining order barring him from stalking, photographing or getting within 10 yards of children in California.
The first arrest occurred at 1:40 p.m. Monday as he sat in the lobby of the university day care center. He was booked by the University Police Department and released on his own recognizance pending a Sept. 23 court appearance. Nine hours later, he was being interviewed by a television crew in the campus parking lot when a UCLA police officer arrested him for trespassing, according to UCLA police.
This time he was booked and transferred to the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station where he was being held without bail. Trespassing is a misdemeanor.
"He has a hold because he is a transient and has a court appearance this morning," said Sheriff's Sgt. Charles Norris. Holding someone without bail on a misdemeanor is not unusual "if they keep being an issue and committing the same crime," Norris added.

In the first incident, which is an infraction, UCLA notified the court of McClellan's arrest and was told to let him go. He was issued a ticket ordering him to appear in court on Sept. 13. Officers drove him to his car off campus and left him there. The story topped the evening news in Los Angeles and McClellan agreed to an interview shortly after 10 p.m., two miles from where his arrest occurred.
Both on camera and in print, McClellan has repeatedly espoused his attraction to young girls, saying he would commit sexual acts if it was legal. However, he has never been arrested for any type of lewd act. Taking photographs in a public place is not against the law.

The campus day care center caters to children younger than 3 years old and is used by students and school employees. A woman who was in the lobby recognized McClellan and notified police, UCLA police Sgt. Mark Littlestone told KCBS news. McClellan's camera was confiscated.
