SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. (Crime Library) -- A "how-to" pedophile web site run by a Seattle-area man has been shut down by its server after a surge of media attention.

The site, "Seattle-Tacoma-Everett Girl Love" at www.stegl.org was shut down Wednesday by its host, Network Solutions, according to local press reports. It had featured a calendar of child-friendly events throughout Western Washington, links to other pedophile web sites and photos of young girls at family and community events.

Police agencies throughout Washington are aware of the site's 45-year-old founder, Jack McClellan, but he hadn't broken any laws.

"As offensive as we find the web site, there's never been any evidence of a crime or even suspicion of illegal activity," Snohomish County Sheriff's spokeswoman Rebecca Hover told King 5 News in Everett, Wash.

King 5 interviewed McClellan, who admitted that he was a pedophile.

"Um, yes, I'd have to say just to be perfectly honest, obviously I am at this point," he said. Of the web site, he added: "I guess I just got more wrapped up into it....I started enjoying it more."

According to law enforcement officials, McClellan would travel around to different community events and take pictures of children and post them on his site. He lives with his parents and is unemployed.

The purpose of the web site is to promote consensual hugging and cuddling between men and girls who are aged 3 to 11 and bring pedophiles out of the closet, McClellan told Fox News.

"I guess the main thing is I just think they're cute, a lot cuter than women," he said. "I admit there is kind of an erotic arousal there. It makes me happy simply...I'm doing what anyone else would do with a hobby.

"If someone's into birds they're taking pictures of birds. I'm convinced that none of these images are illegal," McClellan told Fox.

He told reporters that he wasn't sure if he'd bring back the web site, which was created under a fictitious name.
