On the surface, everything Kevin put on the web, (just about), was pretty benign... Would you say his behavior as a casual acquaintance was the same?
His behavior seemed the same the whole time I was friends with him. He never seemed like the kind of person who would do something like he did.
In his writing, Kevin was sometimes funny. Considering what he's accused of doing, this was disconcerting. Was he like that in person, as well?
It was the same. I would say something, he would come back with some funny remark.
Was there anything like that with Kevin Underwood, where you thought back on having known him and got chills up your spine?
The entire friendship seems like that to me now. He never eluded to cannibalism. There might have been things that he said that I didn't catch, but really, is a person supposed to remember 6+ years of conversations? But now, knowing that I was friends with him, that it could have easily been me instead of Jamie Bolin, that sends chills up my spine.
Did Kevin seem to undergo any drastic changes in the time you knew him?
No, not at all. I moved out of Purcell around August or September 2005, and we sort of lost contact then. Occasionally, we would chat online, but it was never for more than a few minutes. He seemed the same way he was when I first met him.
How did you find out about Jamie Bolin, and Kevin's arrest?
It's sort of a long story. My mom and sister still live in Purcell, and they'd told me about the Amber Alert that was going to be issued. This was on Wednesday.
Friday, I came home from work, logged onto my computer, and found that I had a message from someone with Channel 9 News. She wanted to ask me some questions about Kevin, and my picture on my Myspace profile. So I told her to ask away, we were pretty good friends. She told me that there was a news conference on Channel 9, at 9:00, and would I please call Kelly Ogle (the main newscaster that night).
My roommate's boyfriend was playing a video game, and I asked him to turn it there, so I could see what was going on. To me, it just looked like the same, boring news conference, until I heard the word "Underwood."
Immediately, I sat down on the couch. We watched about 10 minutes of it, before I started sobbing and shaking uncontrollably. I then called Mr. Ogle. We watched a little bit more of the conference, and then I was physically sick, after hearing what he was going to do to her. I never even had an inkling that he would do something like that. I was violently physically ill, I couldn't talk, couldn't speak, and I couldn't even think. My roommate had to drive me to meet the news team.
