A Trail of Bodies
Sandra Camille Powers of Sedalia, Mo. went to Texas in the mid-1960s in search of a rich husband.
In 1967 she married Dallas dentist Dr. David Stegall. The couple had three children. Sandra spent lavishly and craved the attention of those in the upper echelon of Dallas society.
By the mid-1970s, Dr. Stegall was talking to his lawyer about a divorce.
Meanwhile, Sandra checked with their insurance agent to make sure her husband's policy paid off in the event of his suicide.

Not long afterward, Dr. Stegall was found dead in the couple's home with both wrists slashed and a .22 caliber bullet in his brain. Authorities ruled it a suicide.
Sandra collected the $100,000 death benefit on her husband and promptly started dating.
Two years later, she married Bobby Bridewell, whose family owned oil wells and race horses. Bridewell was diagnosed with cancer and died four years later.
While her husband was undergoing cancer treatment, Sandra developed a close relationship with his doctor and the doctor's wife.
