"They never hugged from the beginning, but they were completely distant, like strangers, once they got their own attorneys," the health care provider said.
Doctors removed little Jason Midyette from life support on March 1, 2006. He died two days later. An autopsy found he had suffered 27 broken bones and a fractured skull. His brain injuries were so bad that one doctor said had Jason lived, he would have remained in a vegetative state for the rest of his life.

The autopsy found that Jason's fractures were in various stages of healing, indicating that not all of his injuries occurred at the same time.
"This is not one day of injuries," the health care provider said.
Asked what could have caused such injuries to an infant, the health care provider began to offer an opinion but became too upset to finish. "It would have to be...it hurts me to even think about what it would take to do that."
