Jeremy spent a day and a half in the hospital and was released at noon Tuesday, according to a Vanderbilt University Medical Center spokesman.
Nashville police arrested Ahmed and charged him with attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and theft.
"This guy tried to run over two people," Mumford said.
The theft charge stems from Ahmed's possession of the United Cab Company's van.
Initial reports quoted United's manager, Cherrie Machado, as saying that Ahmed had been a driver for the company for only two or three days before the attack. Tuesday, however, Fox News reported that Roderick Brown, whom Fox described as the company owner, but whom Machado later told Crime Library was the cab company's operations manager, said Ahmed used to work for United but was fired in November after he got into a high-speed chase with Nashville police.

In the Fox News report, Brown claimed Ahmed, who teaches English as a second language in an office next door to the cab company, stole the van and had been operating it without authorization and pocketing the fare money.
In an interview with Crime Library Tuesday, Machado would not clarify whether Ahmed was working for the cab company at the time he tried to run down Jeremy and Andrew. She referred all questions about Ahmed to the company owner, whom she would identify only as "Mr. Mann." Machado claimed she did not know the owner's first name, nor would she provide a way to contact him. She said the owner rarely comes into the cab company's office and is very hard to reach.
