Carroll Edward Cole

Details of this account are drawn primarily from a series of personal interviews and correspondence with Carroll Edward Cole, conducted between April and December 1985. Cole also cooperated in obtaining copies of his official records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons and various state hospitals where he was confined between 1961 and 1967. Interviews and correspondence with law enforcement officers in four states, and with Cole's third wife, completed the survey. My book-length study of the case, entitled Silent Rage, was published by Dell Books in 1994. It remains the only book published to date on Cole's case.
