Free Gas!
Police in Bethoncourt, France, received a call on April 14, 2012, around 10 p.m. from a citizen who was concerned about a line of 50 cars at a single gas pump at the supermarket. Officers arrived to find that the pump had been tampered with and was giving away free gas. No word on how long the prank had been in place, but needless to say officers were forced to rectify the situation, and, needless to say they encountered
"a certain hostility" as they told the waiting motorists to move on. The officers, determined not to win any popularity contests, reportedly took down several license plate numbers, intending to charge those who had taken advantage of the free gas with theft.
