SALT LAKE CITY, Ut. (Crime Library) — The accused killer of 5-year-old Destiny Norton says he "doesn't like what happened" regarding the girl's death and believes that he will be going to prison soon.

Craig Roger Gregerson made the remarks in a three-page neatly printed letter to a Northern California man who has a hobby of corresponding with the world's most notorious imprisoned killers.

In the letter, Gregerson talks extensively about plans to further his education and gives insight into his life at the Salt Lake County Jail. But he stops short of giving any information about his case other than to write, "If you have any questions for me, I'll answer any of them except when it comes to my case...I don't like what happened and hate talking about it."

Gregerson, 20, is charged with kidnapping Destiny from her front yard and suffocating her. He then molested the corpse in his basement, where her body was left to decompose for a week before authorities found her, according to a confession outlined in court documents.

The crime occurred last summer. Gregerson recently waived his right to a preliminary hearing and the case will proceed to trial. Prosecutors have not decided whether to seek the death penalty.

Thomas Loudamy, 27, said he wrote the letter because he has a newborn baby and wondered how Gregerson could allegedly commit such a crime against a child. Before Gregerson was arrested, he worked as a shipping clerk. Loudamy has the same job and both men are in their 20s.

Unlike some of his other pen pals, like "Night Stalker" Richard Ramirez, Loudamy doesn't plan on continuing his relationship with Gregerson because he says he doesn't have anything more to gain from it.

"I'm content with the fact that he said 'I don't like what happened.' To me personally, that's all I needed to read," Loudamy said. "He's saying that he didn't like killing her."
