Liza Murphy |
Depression over his wife's infidelity drove Murphy to the suicide attempt after writing farewell letters to his children, sister and Liza, Rem said, adding that his client had nothing to do with his wife's disappearance. The 39-year-old self employed painter has cooperated with authorities but right now he's in no condition to have any additional conversations, Rem told Grace. Police have not asked him to take a polygraph exam.
"There was a point where investigators were talking to him for a very short time then he told us that he had retained an attorney and would not be speaking," Saudino told Grace. The notion that Liza walked out of her home after an argument was something that police learned from Murphy.
However one of Murphy's friends, identified as Donna Woods, dropped a bombshell on Grace's program Tuesday night. She admitted that Liza had been having an affair, but said it wasn't sexual. Rather, it was an extremely close friendship with a friend.
"He taped the phone and confronted her and an argument began," Woods said. But when asked if Liza would ever leave her children, Woods said: "Absolutely not."
