Real-Life Crimes of The Wire Cast
Deandre McCullough
Deandre McCullough
Deandre McCullough, who played bumbling bodyguard Lamar on The Wire, inspired a character in David Simon and Ed Burns' book The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Inner-City Neighborhood, which was adapted for an HBO miniseries in 2000. The non-fiction book observed a year of goings-on on a single corner in Baltimore, in an area heavily affected by drug addiction and he war on drugs. McCullough was the son of drug addicted parents, and began dealing drugs in high school. In the television adaptation of the book his character was played by Sean Nelson. McCullough has since then chosen to walk the straight path, and besides appearing on The Wire, has been living a quiet life with his girlfriend and son.
