"We have also learned that (Tangela Key) participated in — and actually directed her other children to participate in — discipline sessions with Lavares where Demetrius would hold Lavares's legs and another sibling would hold his arms, and she would beat him while the other two children held him," Orange County Sheriff's Sgt. John Allen said in an interview with Local6.com.
Key was released from the Orange County Jail on Oct. 5 after posting $2,500 bail.
On Oct.16, the State Attorney's Office announced their decision to try Demetrius in juvenile court, based on his "lack of record" and history of physical abuse. A trial date is pending.
Sandra Blackmon is currently being held at the Orange County Jail. Her brother, Stacy Allen, has not been charged in connection with the case.
