"They can't believe he's in this predicament," Speeter said. "They're very shocked."
Friends of Anderson are equally stunned by his arrest. Speaking under the promise of anonymity, one of his acquaintances told Crime Library yesterday that he never suspected his friend was capable of the murder.
"Mike has always been a really good guy," he said. "I've known him for about 5 years and every time I've seen him interact with woman he's been very respectful. I'm not sure what changed his mind this time. We hang out play paintball, work on cars and play video games. When I heard about this I couldn't believe that he was getting charged."
The senseless killing also puzzles police, who are still trying to determine a motive.

Katherine's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. today at Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina, MN.
