(Continued)
When Shanda answered the door, Rippey and Lawrence explained to her they were friends of Amanda's and told her she was waiting for her at a deserted place called the Witches' Castle. Shanda was unable to leave right then, but told the girls to come back around midnight when her parents would be sleeping.
To pass the time, the girls went to a concert at a nearby skate park. When they returned to Shanda's house, it was just after 12:30 a.m. When the girls went to get Shanda, Loveless hid in the back seat under a blanket. Shanda was hesitant to go with the girls at first, but Rippey successfully convinced her to come along, and the trio all got into Tackett's car.

The Witches' Castle |
As they made their way to the Witches' Castle, Loveless jumped up from the back seat, grabbed Shanda by the hair, and placed the knife to her throat. Shanda cried and begged Loveless not to hurt her, but her cries fell upon deaf ears.
By the time Tackett steered the car off the road by the Witches' Castle, Shanda was sobbing uncontrollably. Loveless and Tackett both pulled her out of the car and led her inside the Castle. Loveless then tied Shanda's hands as Rippey taunted her with the knife. Loveless then took several pieces of Shanda's jewelry, which she shared with Lawrence and Rippey. Tackett soon became nervous when several cars drove by the Castle, and she suggested they leave and go to another place by her house, so they dragged Shanda back to the car and left.
