BURLINGTON, Vt. (Crime Library) — A week after she vanished while returning to her dorm after an evening spent partying with friends, investigators have found the body of 21-year-old University of Vermont co-ed Michelle Gardner-Quinn along a rural road in the town of Richmond, a bedroom community about 15 miles from Burlington.
A suspect, identified as 36-year-old Brian Rooney of nearby Richmond, is being held on unrelated charges of sexual assault, attempted sexual assault and lewd and lascivious conduct with a child while authorities continue their probe into what they concluded was her homicide.

In a brief statement released late this afternoon, Burlington police confirmed that the body had been recovered off of Dugway Road.
"An immediate response by members of the (Vermont) State Police, Burlington Police and FBI confirmed the presence of a woman's body and she has tentatively been identified as Michelle Gardner-Quinn," the statement continued.
