CENTERVILLE, Ind. (Crime Library) — There is something awry in Wayne County right now. Two sisters were recently found dead in their family home fewer than six days apart. One death has been labeled a homicide and the other suspicious. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been named. The public has been kept in the dark from the beginning, and to date, investigators have had little to say about the investigation. Has a crazed killer struck the same family twice, or is the timing of the deaths sheer coincidence?

Centerville is a small, rustic town with a population of roughly 2,427 people. The closest major city is Indianapolis, which is about an hour's drive away. According to the town Web site, Centerville "provides an opportunity for visitors to experience the past while shopping its many antique stores ... Centerville is a great place to visit year round for antiques and shopping."

For all intents and purposes, Centerville is an all-American town. Generally, not much happens there, not until recently anyway. Everything began to change about ten days ago, when a teenager inexplicably died at her parents' house.

The first time Centerville residents heard of 19-year-old Erin Stanley's death was when they read her obituary in the September 2 edition of the Palladium-Item.

"Erin R. Stanley, 19, of Centerville, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at Reid Hospital. Born April 19, 1988, in Richmond, to Dale and Lonny Fleenor Stanley, she was a homemaker. Survivors include a daughter, Alexis McFarland; her parents; and a sister, Kelly Stanley. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Mills Funeral Home, Centerville, is in charge of arrangements."
