Police in Quebec are reporting a drastic rise in threats made by teens against their peers. There have been at least seven separate incidents of threats against Quebec schools since Kimveer Gill's Sept. 13 shooting rampage.
- A student at Le Relais school in Donnacona, Quebec, and another one at a high school in Quebec City have been charged with allegedly uttering death threats against staff and students.
- Two students were arrested in Longueuil, Quebec, in two separate incidents, for allegedly threatening violence against their schools.
- A student from Heritage Regional High School and a student from Centennial Regional High School, on Montreal's southshore, have been suspended for making threats against students.
- On Monday, a 15-year-old from Salaberry-de-Valleyfield was charged with posting Internet threats against students at a Montreal-area high school.
During an interview with Canada's CBC News, Cathleen Scott, director at the Central Quebec School Board, said she believed the incidents were isolated and a result of Kimveer Gill's rampage. "Across the province, there are what I call copy-cat situations happening. We hear them on the news, so we're all necessarily a little more vigilant about things, and taking things seriously," Scott said.
