The film first ran at Hope College's Knickerbocker Theatre in January 2004, twenty-five years after Janet Chandler's murder. A few weeks later, the film aired on a Grand Rapids public television station.
"What I hoped would happen was that somehow this would make a difference...that somehow this would help," Schock said.

Three months after the film aired, the Holland Police Department and the Michigan State Police formed a four-man cold case squad. The squad had just one goal: to solve the murder of Janet Chandler.
The four detectives—two city policemen and two state troopers—spent the next two and a half years working on nothing else.

In February 2006, detectives from the cold case squad arrested 66-year-old Robert Michael Lynch of Three Oaks, Michigan. Lynch, who was 39 at the time of Janet Chandler's death, was charged with first-degree murder.
