This time, Filyaw fails to get away
After a failed attempt to hijack a car to make his escape, Filyaw was found early Sunday morning walked along the side of Interstate 20. The man, who had once put up a sign outside his trailer warning that unwanted visitors, including cops, would be shot, put up no resistance when authorities moved in.
For the moment, Filyaw has been charged with kidnapping, first degree sexual assault, impersonating a police officer, and possession of incendiary devices, but authorities say additional charges may be filed after they have an opportunity to talk with Elizabeth, perhaps as early as today.

Vinson Filyaw |
As bizarre as the abduction tale seems on the surface, Elizabeth's ordeal is not entirely unique. There have been several high profile cases in recent years in which predators have abducted girls and young women and held them as virtual slaves in makeshift dungeons. In fact, Elizabeth's case is the second such incident in South Carolina this year.

Kenneth Hinson |
In March, authorities arrested Kenneth Hinson after two seventeen-year-old girls he had allegedly abducted freed themselves from the dungeon he had built behind his home and walked to safety. Hinson was captured after a four-day manhunt and is awaiting trial on kidnapping charges.
