Last month the attorney for Danielle's parents, Marc Needelman, responded to claims by Gault's attorney that his client had provided Danielle with a safe haven, so that she could escape the abuse she was suffering at home.
"The Bloomfield police department has been involved in the investigation for over a year. They publicly stated in no uncertain terms that [the girl's parents] have absolutely no responsibility, have committed no crimes or engaged in any improprieties," Needelman said in an interview with the Associated Press.

Yesterday, Adam Gault appeared in Superior Court in Hartford, where he pled not guilty to all eight criminal counts. Sexual assault charges are still pending. Cray and Murphy also pled not guilty to the charges against them. All three cases have been continued to August 1.
"Since the story broke, we've received complaints from women in and out of state," Police Captain Jeffrey Blatter said in an interview with The Bristol Press. "If even half of the allegations made by the women he encountered are true, he's a very scary man."
All three suspects are currently being held in the county lockup on $1 million bond each.
