WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (Crime Library) — Last month investigators with the Bloomfield and West Hartford Police Departments served a search warrant on the Newington Road home of Adam Gault, 41 and his common-law wife, Ann Murphy, also 41. Upon entering the home, a police officer made a startling discovery when he moved a dresser away from a wall and found a hidden doorway.

"Lieutenant, you better get in here," the investigator cried out when he opened the hidden door. Inside a small room, approximately 3 feet high and 5 feet deep, was Danielle Erica Cramer, 14, alive, although obviously traumatized.

Danielle had disappeared from her Bloomfield home on June 14, 2006. Her classification was "Lost, Injured, Missing." She was shaking and crying when she looked up at the investigators.
Following the girl's discovery, police arrested Gault, Murphy and a third woman who lived at the house, Kimberly Cray, 26. Gault was charged with second-degree unlawful restraint, second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree custodial interference, interfering with an officer, risk of injury to a minor and second-degree forgery.
Murphy and Cray were charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree reckless endangerment, conspiracy to commit second-degree custodial interference and risk of injury to a minor.
Since the June 6 raid on Gault's home, investigators have begun to release more details regarding this bizarre investigation and the information that led them to obtain the search warrant.
