SEYMOUR, Ind. (Crime Library ) — Just three days after he allegedly opened fire on Indiana's superhighways, killing one man, wounding another and terrorizing countless more, authorities say they have the Seymour sniper in custody.
Zachariah Blanton, a 17-year-old from Gaston in Delaware County is being held the Jackson County Jail, just a few miles from I-65 in Seymour where the shooting spree began, faced with preliminary charges of murder, attempted murder and criminal recklessness.

The teen, arrested late Tuesday afternoon, allegedly admitted to being the triggerman in four sniper incidents reported on Indiana's before dawn on Sunday.

In the first incident, a passenger in a pickup truck was shot and killed while traveling south on I-65. As police raced to the scene of that shooting, a second man reported that he had been shot and wounded while traveling along the same highway. Two hours later and fifty miles away, a truck driver on I-69 reported that his rig had been hit by sniper fire, and an hour after that, a vehicle parked along side the road was also struck by at least one bullet.
