Last night a detective reportedly told television station WAGA that the case was being investigated as a murder-suicide. According to WAGA, investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and son sometime over the weekend and then killed himself yesterday.
Also yesterday, Sheriff's Lt. Tommy Pope told the ABC News Web site that there were no signs of shootings or stabbings. However, he did say the "instruments of death" were found at the scene. Pope would not comment further pending the results of an autopsy that is scheduled to take place sometime today.

The WWE cancelled its live "Raw" wrestling program last night and instead broadcast a three-hour tribute to Benoit.
"I am deeply saddened over the loss of Chris Benoit," Carl DeMarco, president of WWE Canada, said on the WWE website yesterday. "My heartfelt thoughts and sympathy go out to his parents and family. My relationship with Chris has extended many years and I consider him a great friend. Chris was always first class — warm, friendly, caring and professional ... one of the best in our business."
According to Benoit's bio on the WWE Web site, he was a native of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, who had a reputation for "toothless aggression." His signature move is listed as the "Crippler Crossface."
