"Lawrence was a good son, a best friend and brother, a proud soldier, and a great friend to many and would have done nothing careless to cause his own death," Sprader said in an e-mail he sent to me on Monday, adding, "I want to thank all of those who sacrificed time away from their families to help in the search for our son. He is now home and we can now send him to heaven."

According to officials at Fort Hood, internal and external investigations are underway, and the training course is be evaluated to determine if changes should be made. An official report on the findings is not expected for several weeks.
Lawrence's parents said their final goodbyes to their son at a memorial service Monday evening. The following morning, he was buried with full military honors at the Veteran's National Cemetery in Amelia, VA.
