Kreider was friends with Kevin Haines and even attended the family's memorial service on May 19. Friends say he sunk into a deep depression in the days and weeks following the murders.
"He was really sad," said classmate Yiting Tian, 15, in an interview with the Lancaster New Era yesterday. "He cried a bit during one of my classes."

In regard to his alleged confession, Yiting said she is shocked and uncertain what to believe.
"A lot of people don't believe he actually did it," she said. "We are all waiting for the evidence to come out before we believe anything. He was so close to Kevin, we didn't believe he could do it. A lot of people like him."

Over the weekend, the Manheim Township School District posted a statement about the arrest on their Web site:
"The staff members of the Manheim Township School District are shocked and saddened by the charges released June 16 by the Manheim Township Police Department. Because this is an ongoing legal matter we will not comment on the charges or the student. All questions should be forwarded to the district attorney's office. This is a difficult time for our district. Please, continue to support one another and keep our community in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you very much."
