DELAVAN, Wis. (Crime Library) — "I was inside of my house, and my sister-in-law and her boyfriend came in and started shooting everybody." What you just read is an excerpt from a chilling 911 call that was received by the Delavan Police Department at about 10:36 p.m. Saturday night. The caller, Gaspar Huerta, had climbed out a window when the shooting began and then jumped off the roof of his house so he could call for help.

The Walworth County SWAT team was quickly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they made entry through the front door of the home. Two paramedics followed not far behind. As investigators conducted a room-by-room sweep, they discovered the bodies of one man, three women, and two infant boys—all dead as a result of gunshot wounds. Making their way outside, investigators found what they initially believed to be a seventh victim inside an automobile parked in the driveway. Miraculously, that victim, a young girl, was somehow still alive, despite a close-range gunshot wound to the chest. She was immediately transported to an emergency medical facility for treatment.
