LAFAYETTE, La. (Crime Library) — The last time anyone saw Ashley Barker alive, she was leaving a Hooter's Restaurant on Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette, Louisiana (LA).
Less than 3 hours later, early in the morning on June 18, 2006, a Lafayette patrol officer found Ashley Barker about a mile away, in her silver 1998 Mitsubishi Galant.

The 19-year-old native of Carencro, LA was dead from a single gunshot wound to the head.
On June 20, 2006, Lafayette TV station KATC reported that Ashley was found in the passenger seat of her car, and that a hubcap missing from one of the Mitsubishi's wheels was found at the Sunny Acres Trailer Park, also located on Ambassador Caffery Parkway.
The same day, rival station KLFY reported that Ashley Barker's 4-door sedan had a blown-out tire when she was found Sunday morning.
Lemoine Drive was a straightaway connecting Ambassador Caffery to Case Lane. The road was bordered on both sides by empty fields, and the only structures within sight of the turn-off onto Lemoine were businesses on the other side of Ambassador Caffery. Recent aerial photos showed a location that was isolated, lonely.
