LIBERTY TWP., Ohio (Crime Library) — Last week, the Hamilton County Coroner's office confirmed that a body found in the woods in Blue Ash earlier this month was 38-year-old Kiva Gazaway, a mother of two teenage girls who has been missing since April.
According to Butler County Sheriff Chief Deputy Anthony Dwyer, Kiva's former boyfriend, 32-year-old Harvey "Shawn" Johnson Jr., directed investigators to the location where the partially covered body was recovered. Police say Johnson broke down during a lengthy police interrogation, and provided them with the details. Police are not commenting on the condition of the body or whether Johnson has confessed to the murder.

On May 21, the Hamilton County Coroner's office positively identified the remains as Kiva's. According to the official autopsy report, Kiva's death was caused by asphyxiation.
Johnson has been behind bars in a Florida jail since April, when he was arrested on a federal probation violation. According to the police report, Johnson violated a condition of his parole when he left his home following Kiva's reported disappearance, and fled to Florida. Johnson was extradited back to Ohio earlier this month. Police say Johnson has a long rap sheet, going back several years, for a variety of crimes. Arrests include misdemeanor larceny, felony theft, illegal firearms possession, receiving stolen property, indecent assault, and bank robbery.
