The morning following the murders, Lori's Mustang was spotted on Interstate 80. When a patrolman attempted to make a traffic stop, the vehicle sped off and a high-speed chase ensued. Units from multiple agencies pursued the vehicle for 67-miles, with speeds reaching 115 mph. The chase came to an abrupt end near Rock Springs, Wyoming, when the Mustang crashed into an unoccupied police cruiser. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Alisha Ochoa's boyfriend, 18-year-old Michael Grandon. Ochoa was a passenger in the vehicle. Both teens were taken to a Rock Springs hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Afterwards, the pair was booked on charges of car theft and placed in the Green River County Jail.

Yesterday, Grandon and Solie appeared in a Wyoming court on charges of felony theft. Their bond was set at $500,000 each. During the proceedings, both teens waved extradition. They will be transported back to North Platte later this week.
Chief Gutschenritter has made no bones about the fact that he considers Grandon and Ochoa prime suspects in the double homicide. During an interview with The North Platte Bulletin, Gutschenritter said his investigators have gathered "overwhelming evidence" against the teens.
Police allege that Grandon and Ochoa killed Tiara while Lori was shopping and then murdered her when she returned home. Afterwards, they took Lori's Mustang and used her bankcard to remove money from her account. Police believe the couple intended to drive the stolen vehicle to California.
