CAPE TOWN, South Africa — Suspected rapist and serial killer Jimmy Maketta, 42, entered a guilty plea in Cape High Court today. "There is zero possibility of him being rehabilitated," Sean Kaliski, a psychiatrist at Valkenberg Hospital, testified during the brief hearing. "It is hopeless. If a person has killed so many victims it's impossible to say he's not dangerous." Maketta was arrested in 2005 on multiple criminal counts. According to court documents, Maketta committed 16 murders, 23 rapes, three attempted murders, five robberies, four assaults and two kidnappings. Maketta will be sentenced later this week.

REGINA, Canada — A serial dog killer has been poisoning K9's with carbofuran (an agricultural pesticide) laced meat in Wascana Park. According to published reports, the perpetrator leaves the baited meat at the park because it is a popular spot for people to walk their pets. In response to the poisonings, the Regina Humane Society has increased their patrols of the park. Anyone with information is asked to call the Wascana Center Authority or the Regina Humane Society.
