BOULDER, Colo. (Crime Library) — Alex and Molly Midyette surrendered to police Tuesday just hours after a grand jury hit the couple with a seven-count indictment for child abuse in connection with the death last year of their two-month-old son, Jason.
The Midyettes were only in jail a few hours before being released on bond. Alex Midyette, who was indicted on four felony charges, posted a bond of $750,000, while Molly, charged with three felony counts, posted a $500,000 bond.
Additional conditions of their bonds are that the couple stay away from children, that they surrender their passports and do not apply for new passports, that they do not possess weapons, and that each are to be fitted with electronic monitoring devices.
According to the Boulder Country District Attorney's Office, Alex Midyette was charged with one count of causing injury to his son that resulted in his death, two counts of placing Jason in a dangerous situation that resulted in his death, and one count of engaging in a pattern of abuse and neglect that resulted in his death.
