(Continued)
In The Collector, Frederick believed that if he held Miranda long enough and proved that he would do anything for her that she would eventually love him as he loved her. The problem is, he didn't really love her. He merely controlled her. Something similar was reportedly the case with Hose and Kach, and police say they have found evidence to support that, but before we can adequately address the veracity of either side's story, we need to learn more.
Knowing who Kach was before she disappeared, as well as who she was with Hose, would provide a better picture. We have heard that she was a defiant teenager. Perhaps Hose offered her a way out of a situation she disliked a tense home, a divorce and a new stepmother. Allegedly, she was sexually precocious and showed an interest in Hose. She had also run away to be with him. So was she really that helpless? Given all the unanswered questions, we will likely see much more from this story before it's all over. Hose certainly must answer to charges from behavior with an underage girl, but as yet, the brainwashing scenario doesn't quite hold up.
