Ste. Genevieve, MO (Crime Library) "We're gonna probably be in Goose Creek, I don't know if it'll be a party party. But it'll be all us guys, then whoever wants to come out I guess ( ... ) we'll all get drunk and have fun, so stop by..." —Wade Michael Lurk, age 17, in a comment posted on a friend's MySpace.com profile on March 30, 2006.

Around 4:30 a.m. CDT on April 1, 2006, Wade Lurk, an honor student and athlete at Valle Catholic High School in Ste. Genevieve, MO, was seen sleeping in his 1990 white Nissan Stanza. Wade had attended a party with about 40 other teens at the Goose Creek Development that night. Based on news reports published in local papers, it appeared that 4:30 was the last time anyone who knew Wade actually saw him. A report in the Southeast Missourian, published April 3rd, indicated that a gate guard at the site thought he saw a vehicle like Lurk's leaving at 5:30 that morning, but the guard could not be certain it was indeed the Stanza, or if the Wade Lurk was inside.

The same piece, by Missourian reporter Kyle W. Morrison, stated that authorities had been notified by 8 p.m. on the 1st of April that Wade Lurk was a missing person.

A report published by the Associated Press on April 4 brought the news that Lurk's savings account had remained untouched since April 1st, and no one who knew him had seen any evidence of depression prior to his vanishing.
