The St. Paul Police Department's homicide division has been assigned to the case due to the implied threat. Calls to the homicide division were directed to Tom Walsh, the department's Community Services Officer. Calls to Walsh were not immediately returned, so the department's stance on this investigation is not clear.
According to Shirley, Crystal is having a difficult time getting her life back to normal.
"She is depressed," Shirley said. "She is scared to death. She can't sleep at night, and she can't eat. She is a nervous wreck. She looks over her shoulder all the time because he might be in the area. He tore the heart right out of my granddaughter."
