BRITISH COLUMBIA — In 2005, authorities enlisted the help of psychic Norm Pratt to recover a missing woman's remains. Now Pratt is helping in the disappearance of another woman, who is believed to have disappeared while hitchhiking on Highway 16. The remote stretch of road has long been called the Highway of Tears, due to the large number of hitchhikers who have disappeared while traveling from Prince George to Prince Rupert. "There is a serial killer," Pratt told the Edmonton Sun, adding, "But some (victims) were killed by people they knew." The serial killer theory is nothing new and has been widely discussed in the past. Whether or not Pratt will be able to find the missing woman is yet to be seen.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Seven months ago, authorities announced that Robert Browne had confessed to killing 49 people over a 20-year period, dating back to 1970. Investigators now say they have been unable to corroborate those claims. In some of the cases, evidence has been misplaced, and in others, Browne refuses to elaborate on the crimes. "He could be lying about some of them. I don't think he's lying about all of them," El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa told The Gazette. Investigators say it is unlikely Browne will be charged in any of the unsolved murders. Browne is in prison for the 1991 murder of Heather Dawn Church and the 1987 slaying of Rocio Sperry.

| Arthur Shawcross |
| SULLIVAN CORRECTIONAL FACILITY, N.Y. — The Mirror in London received an unusual letter from convicted serial killer Arthur Shawcross this month. According to an article in the paper, Shawcross asked them if they would help him locate an Irish woman. "I have a crush on a native of Ireland. Her name is Becky — a fine redhead who I desire truly. Help me find her," the paper quotes him as writing. In 1990, Shawcross received a 250-year prison sentence for the murders of 11 prostitutes. |
