Investigators have never commented on whether they recovered the murder weapon; however, the list of seized items seems to suggest that the weapon may have been recovered from outside the Bentler residence. Perhaps in the coming months, authorities will confirm this information.
Bentler is being held at the Van Buren County jail on a $2.5 million cash bond. His trial is set to start on May 7. If convicted, Bentler will face a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
