BRADDOCK, Penn. (Crime Library) — Late last night, the Allegheny County Police arrested William Lorenzo Page, 22, in connection with the death of his daughter, 23-month-old Nyia Page. Charges include, criminal homicide, filing a false police report, kidnapping and simple assault.

Page was already in jail at the time of his arrest. He was being held on charges of simple and indecent assault of a child, endangering the welfare of children and corruption of minors. Those charges came after a six-year-old boy made allegations that Page had indecently assaulted him and struck him with a belt on previous occasions.

On Wednesday, the Allegheny County medical examiner ruled Nyia's death a homicide. According to Dr. Karl Williams, Nyia died of exposure and hypothermia.
Nyia's parents reported her missing on Saturday morning. Dozens of police officers from numerous county, municipal, and federal departments, along with citizen volunteers, braved 20-degree temperatures to search the toddler.

The search continued into Sunday, when searchers discovered her body at an abandoned playground off Fleet Street. Investigators now believe it was Nyia's father who dropped her off at the secluded location and left her to die.
