Hose and Sokol were arrested in March 2006 on a raft of offenses, ranging from statutory sexual assault to endangering the welfare of minors. Initially, both plead innocent to the charges against them. However, in June 2006, Hose made a surprise guilty plea to "statutory sexual assault, three counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, two counts of indecent assault and one count each of endangering the welfare of children, corruption of a minor, interference with custody of children and aggravated indecent assault," it was reported in the Associated Press. He was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.

During the hearing, Tanya read a moving statement to Hose, as she fought to hold back tears. She was quoted in the article as saying, "I just want to know why you did what you did to me," telling him that he had taken her innocence and made her feel unloved by those who truly cared for her. She claimed that she was "nothing but a puppet" to him but asserted that she wasn't "that dominated puppet anymore."
In response to her statement, Hose offered his apology. Yet, for Tanya, it was too late for any admission of guilt. She has since put the horrific experience behind her and has sought therapy. Tanya is also attending college and doing volunteer work at a senior home, Dan Nephin reported for the Oakland Tribune.
At the time of Hose's hearing, Sokol pled no contest to "statutory sexual assault, interference with the custody of a minor, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of a minor, interference with custody of children and aggravated indecent assault," Nephin reported. Prosecutors contended that Sokol was an accomplice to the crimes against Tanya, although she wasn't accused of direct sexual contact with her. Sokol continues to maintain her innocence and claims that the truth will eventually be revealed that she knew nothing of what Hose was doing while residing in her home. Her sentencing has been postponed and is scheduled for the end of November 2007.
